About Library

INTRODUCTION:-

          Library science (or Library and Information science) is an interdisciplinary field that applies the practices, perspectives, and tools of management, information technology, education, and other areas to libraries; the collection, organization, preservation, and dissemination of information resources; and the political economy of information.

          Library is treasury of knowledge; library provides information to the library users. Library resources reference books, dictionaries, encyclopedia are available in library. The library has more than 52,800 printed documents and it subscribes 70 journals and magazines. Library is also a member of INFLIBNET-NLIST (http://iproxy.inflibnet.ac.in:2048/login) under which it has access to more than 2100 electronic journals (including current issues with 5-10 years back files) few electronic databases and more than 51,000 e-books. It has established contacts with colleges institute and non- organizations libraries for inter-library loan arrangement.

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE LIBRARY  :-

          Kopargaon Taluka Education Society started K. J. Somaiya College in June 1964 in Kopargaon because Kopargaon had some advance in the field of agriculture but educationally it was still an area of darkness. Our founder Chairman then M.L.A. the late Shri. K. B. Rohamare, affectionately known as ‘Dada’, realized the necessity of educating young boys and girls, children of farmers and peasant and established this society. Our college availability of higher education for rural area of Kopargaon Taluka in Ahmednagar district.

          Library also established in June 1964.  We provide the books and other study material essential for Staff and student in this educationally backward area thought-out the academic area. We issue text books, reference books and other study material to the user of the library. Our aim is Right Information provide to the right user at the right time.

Aims and Objective :-

•         To serve as latest and diversified information centre.

•         To contribute and to fulfillment the educational aim of our college.

•         To provide right information to the library user.

•         To motivate the student for competitive examination.

•         To develop Inter Library Loan with other colleges.

•         Unique reference books are in the library.

•         Separate E-Library for staff and student.

•         Separate drinking water facility for reading room.
