History

Introduction:-

The department started in 1964. The subject was taught at general level till 1988. In 1989 the department started teaching it at special level. The post graduate department started in 1992 on no grant basis. Considering the need of the society and time recently the department has started a certificate course in Travel and Tourism. The course is sanctioned and approved by U.G.C. and University of Pune.

Scope and importance:-

The subject is important at various levels. It is said that one who forgets history, cannot create history. In this context the subject has importance at social & political level. Subject is taught from school level and students are introduced to glorious past of the country.

The subject has wide scope at state, national and international levels as it represent the entire country as well as world. It is one of the subjects for competitive examinations like UPSC, MPSC. Many students all over the country opt for history in their UPSC examination. The student can make their career in the archeology, education, Tourism, research institute etc.
